Hello and welcome to "Liz Talks Small Biz Buzz." This is the first of many posts that will highlight marketing, PR, advertising and brand development for small business. If you haven't read my profile, let me take a few seconds to introduce myself, explain my vision for changing the way small business markets itself and in the meantime share my experience and credentials for writing this blog.
I am the founder of elle marketing | communications. elle marketing is a boutique agency that specializes in delivering brand strategy and marketing expertise to small business. You might be wondering, why small biz? The answer is simply that small business is often overlooked by the large ad agencies who target companies with long term projects and big marketing budgets. In fact, only a few ad agencies (I can probably list them on one hand) are out there catering to smaller companies. However, since 80% of businesses in the US are small, there are a lot of folks out there who are managing their own advertising and brand strategy and probably wondering if they can get more value for their money and create more buzz for their business by working with a professional. The answer is a resounding yes...but I'm getting ahead of myself.
Before I started elle marketing, I worked for two large ad agencies, Valentine Radford and Cramer Krasselt (“CK”). While servicing a range of clients, I learned from some of the best in the business the importance of brand, the need for strategic marketing and why it pays to spend your budget, large or small, wisely. I developed and honed my skills working on marketing and PR campaigns for such clients as Sprint, Bayer, SRP, Captain D's Restaurants and the Kansas City Zoo, just to name a few. Since then, I've consulted with both b2b and business-to-consumer clients in local and regional markets and industries ranging from home lending services and publishing to software development and non-profits.
During my tenure at CK, I saw a market that was not serviced by the big ad agencies or even the small brick and mortar shops for that matter. Small businesses may not have the budgets or workload to catch the attention of the traditional agencies but they still need a marketing professional to guide them through the maze of options to build their brand and market to their target audience. If your business falls into this category, you've landed in the right place. Check back on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month for my two-cents on marketing, brand building and PR for small business. In between those posts I'll share with you interesting articles that are worth a read, and in addition post video clips and commercials that will make you say "wow!"
I hope you enjoy the blog and in the process learn a little something that helps you create some buzz for your business.
